General Information about Ukraine

Ukraine occupies 603,7 thousands square kilometers and it is the second biggest state in Europe after Russia. Its population is almost 50 million people which is a little less than in France.

Large millionaires cities: Kyiv – the capital, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Odesa and Kharkiv.

State language: Ukrainian. In eastern regions of Ukraine Russian language is mostly used. In the western regions Polish, Hungarian, Romanian languages are used.

Ukraine with its strategically profitable geographical location is situates at the cross-road between Europe and Asia.

Its neighbors:

• Byelorussia at the North;
• Russian Federation at the East;
• Moldova and Romania at the Southern West;
• Hungary, Slovakia and Poland at the West.

Black and Azov Sea wash Ukraine at the South.

Ukraine consists of:

• Ukraine consists of 24 oblasts;
• 2 cities which have a special status (Kyiv and Sebastopol);
• 1 autonomous republic of Crimea.

The majority of population of Ukraine lives in cities.
