Mobile Internet Setup and Use

If you use only phone (smart phone):

Create a new profile in a new phone (smart phone), with the following parameters to use the service:

Connection name
MTS NET GPRS or any
Data bearer
GPRS
Access Point Name
User name
Leave as blank
Prompt password No
Password
Leave as blank
Authentication Normal
IP address
Leave as blank
DNS (DNS address)
Leave as blank

Then name this profile as the core profile in adjusting communication of a relevant program (Internet browser, postal client, ICQ-client etc) or select it in a dialogue window when the connection is being set.

If you use a mobile terminal connected to PC or CPC:

Switch on your mobile phone to PC or CPC using the cable (USB or RS232), infrared, Bluetooth-connection or through PCMCIA slot.

Install on PC a relevant driver of the model of your terminal (see the driver on the site of a phone maker or on CD you got together with the terminal).

Check if the modem is in service.

In the additional parameters of the modem, state the following initialization paragraph:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","www.mts.com.ua" (for Windows 9õ-XP), +CGDCONT=1,"IP","www.mts.com.ua" (for Windows CE) or AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","www.mts.com.ua" (for Linux).

Attention! For phones Ericsson and Sony Ericsson the unit in the initialization paragraph needs to be changed to the index of the parameter of the relevant phone profile.

Create a new Dial-Up connection in PC or CPC, with the following parameters of service use:

Leave it empty
Password
Leave it empty
Phone number
*99# (for phone models of Ericsson, Motorola, Sendo, Nokia and SonyEricsson),
*99***1# (for phone models of Alcatel, Handspring, LG, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sagem and Siemens),
*99**1*1# (for Samsung phone models)
IP address
Received automatically
DNS address
Received automatically

Then select and activate the Dial-Up connection.

Detailed instructions on set up of parameters of Dial-Up connection depending on the operational system you use:

Additional Information

Specifics of the applied technologies:

  • Technology of the data transfer: GPRS;
  • Average data transmission: 20-40 Kb per second. *

 

* The speed is comparable with the speed of data transfer when using the quality Dial-Up connection. The maximum possible data transmission when using GPRS  – 107.2 Kb per second".

The list of supported protocols:

  • Internet: HTTP, HTTPS, FTP;
  • E-mail: POP3/SMTP, IMAP4.

 

Attention! For sending email messages you may use SMTP-server of the MTS company: smtp.mts.com.ua
