What is roaming?

All MTS Prepaid subscribers may take advantage of the international roaming service: when you are abroad, you simply switch on your phone and get connection with any part of the world!

How does roaming work?

After turning on a mobile phone abroad the guest network is found by phone automatically if corresponding settings are entered in your phone. MTS constantly increases roaming-partners network to give MTS subscribers the possibility to use mobile communication services worldwide.

In accordance with roaming-partner network facilities, the set of services in roaming can differ. In some networks you can use one-way roaming service. In others – two-way roaming service:

One-way roaming allows receiving and sending SMS, receiving incoming calls.
Two-way roaming allows receiving and sending SMS, receiving incoming calls, as well as making outgoing calls.

In the network that supports two-way roaming depending on possibilities of roaming-partner network to make an outgoing call subscriber should use one of number dialling variants:

Direct number dialling in the international format:

+ < country code >< city or network code >< subscriber’s number > #

.
Examples: +380 50 508 1111 , +380 44 240 0000, where:

+ – button on the keypad of your telephone;
380 – international country code for Ukraine;
50 – one of codes of MTS Ukraine mobile network;
44 – city code for Kiev.

Call by means of USSD request (USSD Call Back):

* 111 * + < country code > < city or network code > < subscriber’s number > #

Examples: *111*+380 50 508 1111 #

, where:

* ; # and + – buttons on the keypad of your telephone;
380 – international country code for Ukraine;
50 – code of MTS Ukraine mobile network;
44 – international city code for Kiev.

After that you has made an outgoing call with help of USSD request, there will be a message on the display of a mobile phone that the USSD request is received, and connection process is started with a number which was submitted in USSD request. In a few seconds you will receive an incoming call. Having answered this call, you will hear standard call signals.

Two-way roaming with direct number dialing possibility

Two-way roaming service on the basis of CAMEL-protocol allows MTS Prepaid subscribers make the outgoing calls with an opportunity of a direct number dialling in international format, i.e. without of dialing the special combinations of USSD-request.

Service of direct number dialling does not require an additional activation, minimum account balance, allowing to make an outgoing bell, is equal to the cost of two minutes for this direction.

In networks where two-way roaming operates with an opportunity of a direct number dialling, subscriber has a chance:

to make outgoing calls by direct number dialling;
to make outgoing calls by USSD-request (*111* number in the international format#);
to take advantage of forwarding service (forwarding is possible only on numbers belonging to Ukrainian networks)*;
to receive incoming SMS;
to send outgoing SMS, by dialling a number in the international format;
to check the account balance (*101#);
to update the account (*100*voucher code#).

In networks with direct number dialing you may also use the voice mail (for playback of messages in your voice box, you need to dial the long number +380501200000), and call forwarding.

*Attention!

Calls forwarded with indication of conditional forward tariffs at double cost of incoming call in roaming. Therefore we recommend to disable all call forwarding before leaving Ukraine for prevention of money debiting from the account to cancel all forward calls and, in particular, call forwarding on Voice box.

Dialing of numbers in networks, in which two-way roaming service is rendered

To make an outgoing call in the network that supports two-way roaming with direct dial number possibility, it is enough to dial a number in international format:

+ CC NDC XXX XXXX.

To make an outgoing call in a network which supports an USSD-dialling, it is necessary to dial such combination of signs on a mobile phone keypad:

*111* + CC NDC XXX XXXX#, where:

*	Button on the keypad of your telephone.
+ or 00 or 8	Button on the keypad of your telephone, that substitutes an outlet to the international line in any country "+" can be substituted for 810 or 8, if the call is to Ukrainian number. Then the number dialling format is the following: * 111 * 8 044 XXX XXXX #.
СС	International country code (for Ukraine – “380”);
NDC	City code or network (for Kiev – “044”, for MTS – “050”, “095”, “066”, “099”);
ХХХ ХХХХ	Any telephone number;
#	Button on the keypad of your telephone;
	Button on the keypad of your telephone by pressing of which you make an outgoing call.

Attention! Calls forwarded with indication of conditional forward are in a number of cases billed at double the cost of an incoming call in roaming. We recommend to disable all call forwarding before leaving if you do not intend to use call forwarding in roaming.

Account updating

To check up the current balance of your account you need to dial on your mobile phone keypad the following combination of signs *101 # and

or use the Internet Helper service.

To update the balance of your account you need to dial on your mobile phone keypad the following combination:*100* secret voucher code # and

. You can also recharge your mobile account by means of the recharge voucher via the Internet Helper service.

After the request about account updating is sent, there will be a message on the display of a mobile phone of the subscriber that the sum is charged: in case of unsuccessful attempt to update the account balance, the subscriber will receive the corresponding message. The message text will depend on mobile phone type. Variants are possible: Can’t Access network, Network Problem, Not Done, System Failure and another.

You can also update your account by buying a voucher via the Internet.

The subscriber should make the first call (activate the starting package being in Ukraine).

First account updating should be made within Ukraine.
